About HaywardCare
HaywardCare is run and managed by Carlton Hayward, a Corporate Banker for a High Street bank by profession who has decided to pursue a different path in life.
“I started HaywardCare following the loss of a close friend Ronald Morrell, who died in 2006 at the age of 88. Through grief and a feeling of emptiness I started to do voluntary work for Age Concern, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I soon realised there was a need in the community for a dedicated befriending service that supported older people in maintaining a independent life of their choice.
Ronald H Morrell is the inspiration for my business and was born in Leicester on the 26th April 1918.
Ron was a Naval Officer during World War II, and served as a Chief Petty Radio Operator. After the War he enjoyed a long working career at the GEC.I first met Ron in 1995 through a family connection and we became close friends over a 10-year period. I learnt so much from him about WWII, about his life and about the kind of person he was.His wife Kathleen passed away in 1997, he was devastated by this and tried hard to adapt to life alone. This is where I realised how much the loss of a lifetime partner affects our day-to-day living when you’re dependant on each other. He wasn’t as agile as he was in his early life but he did get out and about independently. Falls and ill heath eventually took its toll on Ron, his confidence started to spiral downward only leaving home for doctor & hospital appointments or the odd family event. At this stage I was visiting him regularly throughout the week, helping him with meals, shopping and assisting with personal care. This all came naturally to me, as I wanted him to get better or at least have a better standard of life.Unfortunately, he didn’t get better and passed away on 16th October 2006.HaywardCare is my personal dedication to Ron and others in the community who need a helping hand”.
HaywardCare staff are insured, reference checked and all have full-enhanced CRB records that are available to view on request. We Operate in North Birmingham & South Staffordshire.
